More Panning

This tutorial will cover another way to pan a camera around a scene. This will method will use the virtual cameras Look At capability for the panning. Using this method will make the camera follow an object around the scene. First you need to create an empty game object for the camera to look at. Place the object in your scene where you want to start looking at and then assign it to the camera Look At option.

Now your camera will move to follow the object around. Next, you need to add a new animation track to your cutscene. Assign your new object to it. Make sure you select Create a new Animator when it asks you.

Now start recording in the animation and move to the time where you want your first starting position. Move the object to the position so the camera is where you want it. Even if the camera and object are already in position still move the object a little so that it records the position. Continue to do this to change your time and camera position as desired and record each position.

At this point you may notice that the panning is abrupt and not a smooth transition. To fix this you need to go into the Aim property and adjust the Horizontal and Vertical Dampening properties. If you set them to an 8 you can see how it feels and adjust from there.

There you have another way to pan. This is really just building out your tools so as you are building your project you can pick which ever method works best for you.
